JOB SUMMARY:
As a Field Service Burner Technician, you will perform service work at client sites on combustion and control systems across a wide variety of industries and applications. The service work performed can be any of the following: installation, trouble shooting, calibration, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs. Your communication skills, flexibility, responsiveness, and technical knowledge is critical in effectively serving our client needs.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Combustion Safety testing (40%)
- Analyze and problem-solve burner control and electrical issues (40%)
- Perform point to point checkout, startup, and commissioning on assigned projects (20%)
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively communicate with client's plant personnel
- Maintain field service reports and expenses
- Maintain company truck, test equipment, and truck inventory
- Look for opportunities for upgrades and additional repairs
- Training support as needed by manager
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- One-year industrial electricity degree and/or 3 years of related work experience
- Knowledge in electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and some instrumentation
- Knowledge of industrial mechanics
- Proficient in multimeter and test equipment
- Familiar with OSHA 10, MSHA, or NFPA 70e safety rules and regulations is preferred
- Proficient in pipefitting is also preferred
- Boiler stationary engineer license or state electricians license a plus
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to represent BDC in a professional manner
- Self-motivated
- Computer savvy with knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Positive attitude with the ability to adapt in demanding situations
- Good driving record
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Able to work in very high and low temp areas
- Able to work extended hours when needed
- Ability to bend, climb stairs, and lift over 75 pounds
- Ability to be on call to work on weekends and holidays as necessary
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willing and able to travel with overnight stays up to 30-50% in a year's time
